Dr. Birkbeck is a board certified orthopedic surgeon by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of The Hand. He was awarded a fellowship in Hand and Musculoskeletal Microsurgical Reconstruction at the State University of New York in Buffalo, N.Y. in 1996, followed by an A.O. Fellowship in Upper Extremity Trauma in Bern, Switzerland.
Dr. Birkbeck earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan in 1986, received his M.D. from the University of Michigan School of Medicine in 1990, and completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Birkbeck is a partner in Napa Valley Orthopedics in Napa, California. Prior to this he practiced in Holland, Michigan where he specialized in the treatment of hand and upper extremity disorders.
